ABOUT US

Sutran began with a simple belief: what we wear should feel like an extension of who we are.

In a world that constantly tells people how they should look, dress, and express themselves, we wanted to create something different. We wanted to build a brand that celebrates individuality instead of conformity, confidence instead of approval, and self-expression instead of expectations.

Every piece we create is designed with that belief at its core. Not because fashion should define you, but because it should help you show the world who you already are.

At Sutran, we don't see clothing as just fabric stitched together. We see it as a form of expression, a reflection of identity, and sometimes even a quiet act of rebellion. The way you choose to dress tells a story long before you say a word, and we believe that story deserves to be yours and yours alone.

Why Sutran Exists

For generations, sarees have been admired for their beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural significance. Yet somewhere along the way, they also became surrounded by rules, rules about who could wear them, how they should be worn, and when they were considered appropriate.

The more we looked at it, the more one question kept coming up:

Why should one of the most versatile garments ever created be limited by so many expectations?

Sutran was born from the belief that it shouldn't be.

While the saree has always evolved through history, the conversation around it hasn't always evolved with the people wearing it. Too often, it gets placed into neat little boxes like festive wear, occasion wear, traditional wear, as if something so adaptable could be reduced to a label.

We wanted to challenge that thinking.

We wanted to create a space where sarees could be worn not because tradition demands it, but because the person wearing one chooses to. A space where people could explore saree fashion without worrying about fitting into someone else's definition of what it should look like.

Woven In You

"Woven In You" isn't just a tagline. It's the philosophy behind everything we do.

Every saree and blouse begins with the understanding that no two people wear them the same way, and that's exactly what makes them beautiful.

From the choice of fabric and silhouettes to the way a piece moves, drapes, and adapts to different styles, every detail is thoughtfully considered to help you feel comfortable being yourself.

Because the most important part of any outfit isn't the garment.

It's the person who brings it to life.

Sarees Designed for Self-Expression

At Sutran, we don't define sarees by gender, occasion, or convention.

We see them for what they truly are: one of the most expressive forms of fashion ever created.

A saree can be elegant or bold, minimal or dramatic, timeless or experimental. It can feel deeply traditional one day and completely contemporary the next. It can honour where you've come from while reflecting exactly who you are today.

Most importantly, it can become whatever you want it to be.

That's why our collections are designed for people who embrace authenticity, question expectations, and use style as a way of expressing themselves rather than fitting in.

Our Co-Founders

Sutran was co-founded by Shrayasi Roy and Neha Prasad with one belief at its core: fashion should help people express who they truly are. Together, they are building a brand that is inclusive, expressive, and rooted in individuality, creating a meaningful experience for everyone who chooses to wear their story. For the Ones Who Make Their Own Rules

Sutran is for people who trust themselves enough to define their own path.

The self-made.

The unconventional.

The curious.

The bold.

And everyone in between.

Our sarees and blouses are created for those who don't wait for permission to express themselves because they understand that personal style isn't about following trends, it's about owning who you are.

Whether you're an artist, entrepreneur, professional, creator, student, minimalist, maximalist, or someone still figuring things out, there is room for your story here.

For centuries, people from different backgrounds, identities, and cultures have embraced the saree in their own unique ways. We honor that history while helping shape a future where saree fashion feels more open, inclusive, and accessible than ever before.

Made for Real Life

Fashion should fit into your life, not ask you to rearrange your life around it.

That's why every piece we create is designed with real people and real moments in mind.

Whether you're attending a celebration, leading a meeting, catching a flight, creating content, meeting friends, or simply going about an ordinary day, your clothing should move with you naturally and effortlessly.

Comfort, versatility, confidence, and quality aren't features to us, they're expectations.

Because when you feel comfortable in what you're wearing, you're free to focus on everything else that matters.

More Than Fashion. A Statement of Self.

At Sutran, we're not simply creating sarees and blouses.

We're creating opportunities for self-expression.

Every drape carries a story.

Every blouse reflects a perspective.

Every collection celebrates individuality.

Because fashion is at its most powerful when it feels personal.

So whether you're discovering sarees for the very first time or finding new ways to make them your own, we invite you to explore, experiment, and express yourself without limits.

Welcome to Sutran.

A place where sarees are not defined by tradition alone, but by the people who wear them.

  Meet the Co-founders

Shrayasi, the Co-founder of Sutran, holds a post-graduation in Clinical & Counseling Psychology and brings years of experience across hospitals, research, and the corporate world. Yet, she always felt a desire to create something of her own, a space where she could make a tangible impact and bring her vision to life.

Shrayasi has always believed in the uniqueness of every individual, and throughout her professional journey, she discovered the profound importance of self-expression. For her, the saree was once just her mother’s attire, a tradition she admired but never thought deeply about. That changed when she realized that a saree tells a story, it speaks of a person’s journey, from their daily life to boardroom meetings, celebrations, and milestones. The saree is more than fabric; it is identity, confidence, and narrative woven into every thread.

She believes the beauty and elegance of a saree can never be replaced, so why not make it a canvas for self-expression? To her, every saree captures a powerful journey, from the weavers who bring it to life, to the designers who craft it, to the wearer who embraces it, and the buyer who chooses it to express themselves. This journey reflects not just a product, but a story of connection, creativity, and individuality.

The “S” in Sutran carries a part of her: her story, her vision, and her belief that fashion should empower, inspire, and evolve alongside the person wearing it.

Shrayasi saw a problem in the way sarees were traditionally approached, often limited to occasions or conforming to expectations, leaving people feeling disconnected from how they truly want to express themselves. She founded Sutran to change that, to create sarees that empower, inspire, and let every wearer express their own story with confidence. Every collection is designed to bridge tradition and individuality, making the saree not just attire, but an experience that celebrates personal expression.

“Every saree carries a story, of the people who create it, the journeys it witnesses, and the confidence it inspires in the person who wears it.”

Neha, the Co-founder of Sutran, holds an MBA in HR and spent years navigating the corporate world. She always admired sarees but used to think they were only for special occasions; beautiful, yet often restrictive and difficult to wear comfortably. She wanted something different: sarees that could blend style with ease, comfort with confidence, and elegance with everyday life.

Neha believes that a saree should celebrate joy, freedom, and self-expression, something you can move, work, laugh, and live in without compromise. She used to believe that sarees were for special occasions, and those occasions called for heavy, elaborate sarees. She co-founded Sutran to change that, to create sarees that are effortless to wear, stylish, and versatile, allowing people to feel comfortable, confident, and celebrated in every moment of their day.

The “N” in Sutran carries a part of her, her love for effortless style, her attention to detail, and her belief that fashion should feel joyful, practical, and empowering for the wearer.

For Neha, every saree is a combination of comfort, style, and personality. She ensures that every collection is designed with easygoing elegance, balancing thoughtful fabric choices, draping ease, and timeless style. Her attention to detail ensures that each saree is not only beautiful but designed to make the wearer feel empowered and enjoy every moment of wearing it. Sutran becomes more than clothing, it’s a tool for joy, self-expression, and effortless style, designed for the way people really live today.

Neha also believes in creating experiences, not just products. From choosing the perfect fabric to designing practical yet elegant drapes, she ensures every piece connects with the wearer and adds confidence and comfort to their daily life.

“Sutran is about living beautifully, moving freely, and wearing confidence in every drape.”
